STANDARDS:
-Use evidence to construct an explanation relating the speed of an object to the energy of that object.
-Make observations to provide evidence that energy can be transferred from place to place by sound, light, heat, and electric currents.
-Ask questions and predict outcomes about the changes in energy that occur when objects collide.
-Apply scientific ideas to design, test, and refine a device that converts energy from one form to another.

1. This is the doppler effect, what type of energy is this?
2. Is this sound travelling in waves?
3. Does it decrease or increase in intensity as it travels outward?

Modeling your Thinking
Have students pick through a cookie to understand the environmental impacts of mining. Have the students try to profit from every chip that they receive and lose money for whenever the cookie breaks or how stripped the cookie is by the end of the experiment.
Course Syllabus:
Week 1- Forms of Energy: Potential to Kinetic Week 2- Machines and Laws of Motion Week 3- Renewable Resources; Solar Energy Week 4- Mining and Nonrenewable Resources Week 5- Fundamentals of Electricity |
Recommended Daily Schedule:
Monday- Power-point Tuesday- Video and question sheet Wednesday- Lab Thursday- Readings Friday- Quiz Make sure your students understand all of the vocabulary terms as well! |
